For those who do not want their braces to be very noticeable, clear or white braces are an aesthetic alternative because clear or white braces are less obvious than metal braces. Crystal/Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material, which makes them visually less prominent. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. Clear braces move your teeth in exactly the same way as metal braces do. Clear ceramic braces are quite comfortable to wear and just as efficient at moving teeth as traditional metal braces. The only real drawback to these brackets is that they are more fragile and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.
